Hello,
I thought I'd put all these questions in one post & hopefully people can find them if they are looking for answers - didn't want to hog the forum with multiple posts!
- is there a way of hiding member stats?
- are there any known problems with pulling wordpress profile avatars into simple press? It seems to work for some users & not others...I cannot quite figure out why! Have tired re-uploading avatar.
- are all the plugins listed in the downloads page for use on v5? I noticed a number of the functions listed as plugins seem to be included in my admin panel
- what is the best method of inserting banner ads throughout the forum?
- are there any methods of auto-hyperlinking words? eg if someone says "plugin" it auto-hyperlinks to a page?
- what are the best methods for preventing spam links being added?
Thanks in advance

- You can remove or comment out the entire statistics/about section in the spFoot.php template of the SP theme I think you will find it easily enough if you open it up in the theme editor.
- have you visited the forum admin > profiles > avatars panel and ensured that WordPress avatars are at the top of the priority list?
- Yes - they are all V5 plugins. What, exactly have you noticed that is amiss please?
- Insert the ad code directly into the SP templates where you want them. if you look at the templates and compare them to the final display of the various forum pages they are fairly easy to navigate through and follow. You can place code anywhere. There are also a large number of WordPress style hooks available but injecting the oce into the templates is the quickest and easiest method.
- Not built into SP but I believe there are various WP plugins that should be able to do this if they are well-behaved.
- I don't believe you can ever totally eradicate it. Not allowing guests to post will prevent some. Using the captcha plugin will prevent more. Limiting the number of links a user is allowed to place in a forum post will also help but that will effect all users of course. And using the Admin Bar plugin with the Akismet option turned on will at least make it easy for the forum admin(s) to identify and remove spam posts before they become hard to find!
Hope that helps.
