Sorry, this might be a no-brainer question, but could someone who has already done this please point me to a good source of icons that I could use for styling my forum?

really depends what you want...  dashicons? famfam?  best thing to do is just google for icons or the type you want...

sorry if not much help, but maybe Andy or Ike who do more graphics than I will have more input in the AM...

If looking for something specific I often start with https://www.iconfinder.com/ which often then leads to other sources
