Thanks
Is this an SMF V1 or V2 db please?

Well it was V1.
There is an updated V5 importer that you might like to try. Certainly pulled in all of your database on my local testbed.
I’ll have a go in about an hour. I’ve just woken up. ![]()
BTW, I just tried to set my timezone in my profile on this forum and the setting won’t take. When I click “Update Display Options” it reverts to UTC. I tried both Australia/Brisbane and UTC+10.
Edit: I notice the the post times now match my timezone even though my profile still says UTC.
I just tried the new V5 beta importer, but it still did not import any posts:

Yes, I selected V1. This is what happened yesterday as well. The other problems were with the V4 importer.
I have not deleted your admin access to my site if you want to have a go yourself.
I just tried it again and this time it imported everything except the messages from the one forum that wouldn’t work on the V4 importer. Then, I did what I did yesterday (moved the first topic form the offending forum to another forum) and everything imported fine.
From a quick scan through the messages everything seems to have come across. Now to manually import avatars and other important attachments and do some clean up and configuration. Thanks Andy and Steve.
does Andy have the db with this ‘first topic’ in it so he can look at it?
yeah, sorry, importing avatars and attachments are a bit outside the scope of our importer…
I assume he does. If not, the access details I supplied you still work. The offending topic is now in the forum “Temp”.
Checking now, I discovered that the temp forum I moved the offending topic to is empty in SP5, so it looks like it didn’t import anyway. That topic is mostly pictures, so for me I will just recreate the topic.
So I’m happy to help in any way I can if you want to solve the mystery, but I am sorted out now.
Thanks.
I could really do with knowing what the record is in the original database. They all imported perfectly for me in several trials this end but I can look at an individual record to see if I can see any reason for its failure.
I really don’t know what it is I’m looking for. The topic is called “Locations” and is in the BarronRiverProject group.
In the smf_messages table: ID_MSG=1065 ID_TOPIC=28 ID_BOARD=6.
Before I performed the import, I moved that topic into another forum called “Temp”. During the import the Temp forum was created but the topic was not imported. No error messages were generated. The only oddity was that there was no mention in the import list that the Temp forum was created and yet it was.
Sorry Mike. This post fell down the back of the fridge and I only just realised I had not responded.
In line with our policy on such things I no longer have a copy of your database. I remove all traces of ‘loaned’ db’s as soon as my tests are done.
Doesn’t matter for me as I will just recreate the thread in question, but you are welcome to access it again if you want to work out what the problem is for your own benefit.
Thanks. Yes I still have the email with credentials of course. I will see what time i have…. 🙂
