The number of people reported as signed up to my forums is stuck at 209, I have had a number of people sign up over the weekend and it hasn’t increased?
Any ideas?
The statistics at the bottom of the display are cached any only updated at pre-set intervals – by default once an hour. This uses the WordPress ‘cron’ system which appears – every now and then – to annoyingly lose some of its settings fort some users so you may be a victim of this.
The easiest way to get the cache rebuilt and, hopefully, the task re-scheduled in the WP Cron system is to deactivate the SP plugin (NOT uninstall) and then immediately reactivate it again. After that, run a few pages and then see if, after a few minutes, the stats have updated. Then, assuming they do, keep a watch on them for the next few days.
Take a look at the forum admin > Toolbox > Cron Inspector and look the main lost to see if there is a scheduled task for this – sph_stats_cron – and if so – let it run to see what happens. You can also force it to run in the section at the bottom.
It’s in the Active CRON list with a next run date of 14th Jan – 12:42, it’s schedule is SP Stats Interval, which is 3600
So can you see what the result is after that has run?
Can we also check if you are using any form of WP caching plugin?
When I typed it in the Run Cron box it has updated, and I don’t think I am running any caching plugins
So what about on the hour? Still updating or not? Do you have any way of knowing apart from looking at the schedule?
do you know if wp cron functions on your site?? sounds like perhaps not…
try writing a test wp blog post.. but dont publish it… schedule it to post in 10 minutes… see if it shows up… if not, you are issues with wp cron…
No it doesn’t I always get an error, but not sure how I troubleshoot those issues
sorry, what do you mean by get an error?? when you schedule a post in the future, does it show up? if not always/reliably might indicate issue with wp cron… you can check the wordpress.org forums for fair number of issues for folks on that and potential work arounds…
I have noticed that the Cron schedule is only updating if I disable and then enable the SimplePress plugin and then run the sph_stats_cron.
I really am going to have to refer you to the WordPress forums as Steve did above. The Cron and Cron Schedule is a WP core system and as Steve pointed out, there are a fair number of issues on the forums along with possible work arounds. I do not think there is any way we can improve on that….
