Is it possible to have sub-groups? I am needing to create one main group with different sub groups under it to better the categorization. Each of the subgroups would then contain the individual forums. Im thinking along the lines of VB and IPB.

subgroups? is that different than subforums??? you can have any number of level of subforums… think that will get you what you want… if not, please explain further what subgroups would give you vice subforums…
I am referring to having additonal subgroups. I know we can create a forum and then put subforums under it, but i dont want people to be able to post in the top level, only in the sub areas where the forums can then be created.
For example:
BSL Discussion (Main group)
-Midwest (Subgroup that i do not wish for people to be able to post in or it appear as a forum where people can post)
–Illinois (Forum where threads can be created)
–Kansas (Forum where threads can be created)
–Ohio (Forum where threads can be created)
-West (Subgroup that i do not wish for people to be able to post in or it appear as a forum where people can post)
–California (Forum where threads can be created)
–Oregon (Forum where threads can be created)
–Nevada (Forum where threads can be created)
Just an example of the setup I am looking to achieve.
What you refer to as ‘Sub-Groups’ – then no. You may be correct that VB and IPB allow for these but I have not encountered such a construct myself.
Surely simply not allowing people to create topics in your ‘Midwest’ and ‘West’ forums actually amounts to exactly the same thing as your ‘sub-group’. Doesn’t it?
It does, but it places the box at the bottom of the list of sub-forums that says “There are currently no threads in this forum.”
I will assume you are paraphrasing as I don’t believe we have a message with those exact words – not by default anyway.
So – ARE there any threads in any of the sub-forums? Is the message accurate?
