Support Forum
Today I launched our forums and found this message:
"Sorry, the forum is temporarily unavailable while it is being upgraded to a new version."
From WP Admin, I clicked Forums | Upgrade:Simple:Press
The following message displays:
"WordPress Version 3.9.2
Your version of WordPress is not supported by Simple:Press 5.5.0.1
WordPress version 4.0 or above is required"
Please advise.
-- Why did Simple:Press force a non-compatible update?
Thanks.
We dont force any updates... you manually chose to update SP which displays a note that WP 4.0 was required... ideally, WP wouldnt even offer an update since we tell it what the required wp version is too...

not sure what you mean... the current version of wp is 4.0... are you asking why doesnt it work on the older 3.9.2 version of wp? if so, its because the wp devs continue to make changes that require plugins to change their code to be compatible... having a bunch of 'if' statements checking for which wp version is currently running is slow and inefficient.. we prefer to try keep the forum as lean as possible... its been multiple releases since we had to bump the min version of wp required, but had no choice this time...
