Support Forum
I have seen the info about upgrading.
You can do a fresh install or upgrade from 4.4.5.
If you upgrade, one of the first things you will notice is the plugin directory structure has completely changed… within the wp plugins directory, the simple press plugin is now in a directory called simple-press (not simple-forum). so if upgrading, you will want to complete remove the old plugin before uploading the new plugin.
But it's still not clear, to me anyways, on the recommended way to upgrade.
If I understand this correctly I should take these steps.
- Delete the old Simple Press plugin manually using FTP
- Upload the new plugin using FTP
- Activate the new plugin
- Run the Simple Press setup
- It will setup and continue to use the same database files, post, etc as the old version did.
Let me know if correct. I understand the SVN setup and everything I just want to be clear on the recommended upgrade procedure.
that will work... ftp is not required... better to run svn directly from your server, but thats not possible if you dont have ssh access or if your server doesnt have svn installed...
the old directory in plugins is simple-forum... yes, remove it... then upload the new one you got from svn, which is simple-press...
when you visit the admin, you will be asked to upgrade...
