I am afraid I have a sort of standard initial response to this question and I really do have to start with that.

The question is – what has changed? If it worked yesterday and doesn’t work today – something must have changed. A new WP plugin perhaps? An updated or new WP theme? it has to be something causing a conflict…

I’m not 100% since the admins weren’t having an issue…

But looking at the logs the last Simple Press updates were in October. Updated plugin: Simple:Press 5.7.2  and about SP 4 plugins but there’s no description to which ones and I don’t remember.

Then just this past week:

iThemes Security 5.8.1, MailChimp for WordPress 4.0.11, Strong Testimonials 2.16.3

and during troubleshooting I deactivated them all and still having the problem….

I wish it was something obvious like that.

It has to be. The code can not change so if ot worked before it should still work as it does the same thing every time it is loaded.

So – any script errors in the browser web console?

I do see an error that came up when I refreshed the page 

This in IE 11 and don’t know what’s it’s referencing-

SCRIPT16386: No such interface supported

And in Comodo (Chrome) I get nothing related.

Do you have any ideas about why it would work for an Admin and then not a Member with access to post?   So…

Would it be too much to ask if you could login and check the settings? I can provide an admin as well as a test Forum user login 

what version of windows??  and to be sure, this is IE 11, not the latest Edge?

It’s Internet Explorer 11, not edge. I rarely use it.  And I don’t think it’s isolated to the browser. I know the admins use Apple and other devices and they can access without issue.  Just the non-admins with the problems.

have you tried as a user? asking because the error message does seem limited to IE..  other browsers should see a different error message if still having problem…  at least that is what bit of googling indicates…

Yes, I was testing with 2 user account and while I can post/reply on both browsers with admin I cannot with the Member users.

I’ll be sending the user logins shortly.

Can you run a quick test for me – and I do not expect this to be the answer but I would like to discount it…

Could you deactivate the SP Captcha plugin. The clear your browser cache and log in as a user and see of that makes any difference

So far looks like the captcha plugin was the culprit.

The members can now login and post. 

Funny because at some point earlier, the drap and drop wasn’t working (showing identical icons) so I disabled that part and just kept the math part and didn’t think about it since nothing changed when I deactivated it before. 

Also updated the following, just came in:

SP Version 5.7.3

Plugins-
Admin Bar 1.7.2. 
Private Message System  2.4.

Well that’s good news. The captcha was the nearest I could come up with based on the console error message.

I think it is almost certain that it is conflicting with another WP plugin (or theme) in some way as we have no other reports and tests here show it works as expected. Always worrying.

But good you are back up and running.
