Username revealed in Profile tooltip

When I hover my mouse over my avatar in the Forum, it very politely pops up with a tooltip and lets the whole world know what my WordPress Admin username is, even though I have changed the nicename in the database.

See screenshot (I have scratched out the username, for obvious reasons).  See that fine little black block?  That’s where it shows my username.

This is a security issue.

How can I fix this?  Is there a way to turn this off in the settings somewhere or what?

Thanks for your help!

Oh PS – I have it set to display the WP Display Name in Forum>>Profiles>>Profile Options>>Display Name Format.  And it does show the Display Name next to the avatar, just not in the hover tooltip.

Hey Valerie,

This is a known problem and we have a fix coming within the next release – planned for this weekend.

If you can’t wait, can you try and switch to profile popup mode? See Forum > Profiles > Profile Options, in the display mode section. This should solve it.

Actually, that’s fine.  I’m still in development so nobody is seeing it but me right now, so if a fix is coming soon, that’s all I need to know.

Thanks!

I should just be quiet… ;) evil but its not really a security issue…  security by obfuscation is not security…

that said, it was an inconsistency between the popup profile and the fixed profile page which, as Ike said, will be cleaned up in the next version, hopefully tomorrow…
