This is my 2nd attempt posting this, the 1st time it seems to have been deleted ....

I’m getting warnings like these repeated every few seconds

PHP message: PHP Warning – Undefined variable $link – file: /forum-plugins/plupload/library/sp-plupload-components.php – line: 416 – function: sp_plupload_do_show_attachments

PHP message: PHP Warning – Undefined array key “wpseo_og” – file: /simplepress/sp-startup/forum/sp-forum-support-functions.php – line: 169 – function: sp_wp_seo_hooks”

My server is running PHP 8.0, Simple Press 6.8.2, all SP plugins are up to date.

Hi again Philip,

I agree that it's annoying to have lots of warnings written to the server logs. They can make the site slow as well as make debugging harder since they can hide other issues.

The PHP Warnings you list looks like they are PHP 8 related and we are making PHP 8.0 compatibility a top priority right now. (And then we are starting on 8.2 right way).

I don't have an immediate solution, but we will go through the plugin and all addons during the next few weeks to fix any errors, warnings and notices.

Although it's a little disappointing that SP isn't already fully PHP 8 compatible, given that PHP7 went full end of life in Nov 2022.

Hi Joakim,

I'm not really sure what to say. My forum is working intermittently. We've had some customers notify us that the site reports a critical error i.e. crashed.

I see that some forum users post the same question twice. When I ask them why, they say it's because the first time they tried, the site had a critical error.

Our hosting company has sent me notifications saying the site is not available due to an error and include something like this in their message:

2023/02/21 12:54:02 [error] 75025#75025: *612158 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Warning - Undefined array key "wpseo_og" - file: /simplepress/sp-startup/forum/sp-forum-support-functions.php - line: 169 - function: sp_wp_seo_hooks"

And I've also encountered a critical error when I sometimes reply to a post, so I've experienced it first hand.

There's clearly something not right and the logs are only mentioning Simple Press files so my conclusion is that it's SP causing the issues.

I can't pinpoint what causes these critical failures so I'm totally in the dark here waiting on code to be updated to PHP 8.

Is there any way you can have a look at my logs and figure out what is causing these critical errors on my server?

Hi Philip,

We are currently working on finding and eliminating all bugs and it would be very helpful if you could send your error log files to contact@simple-press.com. Any error messages you or your forum members get would also be helpful.

It would help if there is anyway you could pinpoint exactly when the critical errors occur. It seems to be connected to members submitting posts. Is it tied to anything else, like only the first post or only replies? Only posts with images or special formatting? Is there anything else that the errors seem to have in common?

Any information you could provide would help us find the issues.
