Youtube / Vimeo links not auto embedding with oEmbed

I have read that on Simple Press, you’re supposed to just be able to post youtube (and other media sites) links, and they’ll automatically embed.  I haven’t had any luck with this, and they just show up as links.  I know and understand why the iframe embed doesn’t work, but I’m just talking about pasting a straight link to the youtube video.  When I do that in my forums (http://www.faygoluvers.net/v5/forum), it just shows up as the link. I am able to auto embed by pasting links in my regular WordPress blog posts, so this seems strange. Is there something that I need to enable?

do you have a link to an example post? does the same example work here?

all you need to do is past the url into a forum post too…

not sure… only setting is typically wp but if it works in blog post…  on forum – options – content settings, what are your settings for shortcode filtering?

I am a bit stumped… was hoping Andy would stop by and offer some suggestions but will be tomorrow at this point…

this is wp 3.5+ and sp 5.2.6?

No worries. It’s not a huge deal, just more of an inconvenience.  I can wait on Andy to check it out.

 

To answer your question though, yes those are the versions I am running.  Thanks again for all of your help.

that’s weird.. we really dont do much – the embedding is all wp…  and you said it works fine in wp blog posts…

but Andy will see this tomorrow though per the banner at top we will be offline part of the day….

Not at the moment… I see Andy didnt weigh in – will tweak him on it…

but this is a one off that we cannot duplicate…

so at this point, try changing to the default wp theme and seeing if it works… if not, then try disabling other plugins and see if working… if so, re-enable one by one until it breaks…  just trying to see if any conflicts…

Sorry – I missed this one.

No ideas here I am afraid.I think I would be suggesting the same thing. Let’s try the theme change first then other plugins…

When you mention the theme and plugin changes, do you mean the SP themes and plugins, or the overall WP themes and plugins?
