BAN plugin giving a 500 error when activated

Every time I activate the BAN plugin it completely shuts the forum down.  I can activated every other plugin except this one with no problem.

any more details on the error?  like from the error log and what caused it?

check the name of the plugin directory…   make sure its just called ban and not ban1 or ban2 or banx where is is number… its possible a wp bug in the uploader caused the directory to be wrong…

but that has never caused a 500 error before – especially at activation…
