bbpress import issues

Hello, not sure if this is the right forum

I originally was using mingle, due to what is going on with the plugin, I needed to move my forums, so I imported to bbpress, it’s been a month and I am not really that impressed for a large amount of reasons.

I am glad to see simple press has a bbpress importer, I wish I had dug a little deeper, I didn’t know we could have just imported from mingle to simple press.

I am trying to import and am running into a couple issues, the first being when I click on the bbpress plugin import it takes me to the stand alone, I’m not sure if that is creating the rest of my issues.

one issues is some posts are out of sync, what should be the last post, is showing the second to last

another issue is on threads where say a image link is dead, I am getting errors like this

Warning: getimagesize(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-IFdr8_-Pby8/UXROwSkyvGI/AAAAAAAAcHE/8rtnxi5z02Q/w497-h373/Water%2Bballoon%2Bpopped%2Bin%2Bzero%2Bgravity.gif) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden in/xxxxxxxx/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-filters.php on line 1436

any suggestions? thank-you

it’s a image link that’s dead on my old forum, which would just show a image not found, on simple press it’s giving me a error in the header, I noticed it’s not being shown to guests or members though, so I can work through that

one other thing that popped up, say I import my support forum it has a slug of support-forum, when I try add a icon to it, it changes the slug to support-forum-1, any suggestions?

I think I found the issue to this, seems the mingle to bbpress messed up the post numbers, any way to fix that?

well, first, you should never show php notices and warnings on a production site… bad for security as you could give out some information you would rather not…

can you explain further the slug issue?  the forum slug is changing??

yes it changes from support-forum to support-forum-1 if I add a icon

you are just selecting an icon from the select list?  I cannot duplicate this behavior…

which ones of the five possible icons are you changing?

Please look at my questions again and try to answer them… Want to make sure your exact steps are clear so we can try further to replicate… Namely which icons did you select? One? All? Os some?

The icons I tried to change were all the group and the forum icons, as seen here

I have tried editing the slug and saving and the one keeps popping back in

A slug will most usually be suffixed with a -1 if the system finds that such a slug is already in use somewhere in the system. This might be another forum or a WordPress post or WordPress page. As Simple:Press utilises a WordPress page to display itself on – each and every page slug must be unique. So – is this perhaos the case here?

it is the same structure we had with our bbpress install, is there any way to clear those out?

Do you mean the original bbPress posts? If so I am not sure of the recommended way top do it. Does bbPress not come with some sort of uninsttall option? Perhaps more a question for the bbPress team…

I uninstalled it, not sure why it would still be conflicting, looks like it’s not as big as a issue as I thought, I thought it would conflict with the url redirects from our old forum, it seems to be working fine even with the number at the end, thank-you for your help gentleman

Well the whole point of adding the number is to make the slug unique. I know bbPress creates all of their topics/posts in the WP posts table so it is reasonable that f this is on the same site then there will be url duplicates being created.

There  must be a way of removing al of the old topic and post data and I would have hoped that was built into bbPress but, as I say, I just don’t know. I have never used it!

Hmm plugin import leads me to standalone import too…is this intended?

“Tags” is installed.

I don´t even know what to enter at “bbpress table suffix” :(
