Can users delete their own uploads?

A user of my site told me today that he is missing the ‘delete my own uploads ‘ function he knew from V4.5.

I never was aware that this really was possible in V4.5.

Now he wants it back in the upload viewer.

Is this possible? Is it coming in future versions? Or am I missing something?

Well it was available but it was disabled by default and we always recommended that our users – i.e., forum admins – didn’t turn it on. So maybe you did on yours…

It s not currently available I am afraid as we removed the old File Manager Uploader due to security issues and the fact that it was most unpopular. We have no plans to institute a delete attachments option although we certainly can consider it. I best mention this is the first time it has cropped up since V5 was launched though so not a lot of support for it…

admins and mods can delete attachments using the forum tools for the post…  guess we could consider that another permisison that anyone could be granted… maybe two for any or own…

Thanks for your help!

I believe, that by granting users to upload files, we are already in the security issues. why shouldn’t they be allowed to delete their own files? I think, that sometimes they upload more than they are using or later delete links in their posts and files are left unused.

If you could consider that as a feature, that would be really appreciated by my users (they have multiplied and there are now two of them)

Hi SP-Team,

any news on this?

Keeps popping up on my forum – the testers want to delete their intermediate files and keep only the final version permanently.

they can delete their own uploads…  but need to be on the post where they were uploaded… so a bit of inconvenience…

we have not yet worked the full blown UI for doing it (fairly significant effort)…  but its pretty high on the list…  getting 5.2.3 out, finishing the mobile stuff, and adding support for wp 3.6 will be ahead of it…
