My site is for members only but the widget will only display latest posts extracts if you are signed in which defeats the object. Is there a way around this?

Confused… its a private forum yet you want to reveal forums, topics and posts in the recent post list?  can I ask why?  I could just sit there and watch everything going on in your forum even without paying…

the recent post widget follows all other forum permission for what users can see…

If you really want to entice users to join your forum and give them a glimpse without any post content, I would suggest instead that you take a look at the sneak peek features…  they allow you to show the list of forum and/or the list of topics in the forum, but any attempt to go to the topic page (ie list of posts) will instead display a message or redirect to a page of your choice…  try our forums when not logged in – that is what you will see…

The idea is that visitors can see the forum is active, I didn’t see any reference to the titles of the posts being blocked by the widget.

I can’t find any reference to a sneek peek in the widget or any plugin on the site so can you give me a clue please.

There are no settings. At all tines Simple:Press will use the permissions granted to whoever the current user is viewing the page. So if a non-registered user is loading a page on your site and because of forum permissions guest visitors are not allowed to see any forum topics/posts then they will see nothing, As simple as that.

The ‘sneak peek’ feature is more a set of permissions coupled with a message. Go to the forum admin > components > custom messages. Top right. To be honest the popup help for that section probably tells you all you need to know. It is what we use here to allow guests to see the latest topics but not the post content.
