Mentions Plugin: bug when @ is the first character

Hi,

I spotted a bug in the mentions plugin. At least on my site.

If I type @user as the first character of a new reply the hyperlink will not work. You will get the drop down and auto-complete, you will see the “@user” appear when you selected a user but once the message is saved it will remove the @in front of the user and not hyperlink the user and not send him a notification.

On the other hand, if I type a space just before the @user then it all works fine.

Thanks.

Tested on your site and the post above and the bug is there as well.

@yellow-swordfish

When I am composing the message I see twice @yellow-swordfish in the lines above. But when I save the first @ will disappear.

Gosh, Thanks for this and apologies. I will open a bug report straightaway to get it fixed.

its fixed here! 🙂  so just a matter of releasing… and finalizing testing…

we are tentatively planning pushing out 5.6.6 next weekend, so I would imagine we would push out plugins at same time assuming they pass final testing..

I have updated the Mentions plugin to Version 2.1.11 and the bug is still there I believe. And indeed on your forum the feature is still not working as the first character of this message was @ followed by your name.

xberg – seems to work fine for me and in our testing. So what could be different beteen your end and mine…

Yes. It all seems to work fine when you compose your message, but it does not save the link when it’s the first character in a post.

I see Andy has opened a ticket for this so over to him to take a look, but I know he’s not around much today. I’m sure he will post an update here when he can.

Hi gentlemen,

Any news on this ticket? The bug is a bit unfortunate as it’s quite common practice to add the @at the very beginning of a message.

thanks

The ticket’s been marked as resolved although I’m not sure when the next release will be, will have to wait for Andy or Steve to clarify.

its not a mentions problem per se… but a core issue that just manifests itself with mentions… so its not as easy as pushing out a plugin update…  but we are contemplating a core release in the new couple weeks…  but its not been very prevalent…  this was first notice of it and its been years out there…  but still, needs fixing!
