spam plugin?  sorry, we dont have one called that… could you please elaborate on which plugin you are referring to?

if you are referring to the spam registration plugin, that wont stop any spam from guests… that plugin gives you a way to remove user registrations that might be from spam signups, not spam posts…

if you want to try to stop guest posts as spam, you should use the admin bar which incorporates the wp akismet as a spam prevention…

if I have missed something, please elaborate…

well, we dont control akismet… but have had good luck with it… but even if some spam gets through, it does give an easy way to moderate and delete…

are the spam posts using lots of links? on forum – options – content settings, you could also limit the number of allowed links in a post…

After Installing the Admin Bar and settings akismet option all of the posts are being marked as spam.No posts are getting saved in the forum

I selected “Do not save Akismet marked spam posts” in Global Admin Options of the Plugin.Here is the Image how it displays.

If you set that option, it should be deleting posts it thinks are spam…  What you really want, at least initially I would think, is to set the option to:  place posts marked as spam in moderation…  that way you can review them…

but akismet is not perfect…  it has false positives and misses spam… but its much better than anything else out there we have come across…

but back to your post, are you sure its deleting EVERY post?  even yours?  would be concerned about that…

i dont want to put them in moderation queue. That was going to be my next question.. All the guest Posts are going to Moderation queue unlike before. Even when spam option is not turned on.

All the guest posts use to get publish right away earlier. Thats the way I would want to keep this.

To answer the other question, yes all the new topics created by guests are being deleted (marked as spam) after a try of saving them first.

still confused… deleted and marked as spam are two complete different distinct things…

you dont want to put them in moderation?  what do you want with potential spam?  just post it?  then no need for the admin bar plugin…  its much like akismet does for wp blog post comments…  if spam, it marks it and puts in moderation (really a spam list)…  but you can approve if ham (false positive)…

akismet doesnt do anything generally with guest posts… it treats user and guests posts the same… just tries to identify if its spam… if not, it posts it… if spam, can delete or put in moderation based on your setting…  of course, we dont control akismet, Automattic does…

Just to clear up the confusion

1. All of the Posts be a guest or member is placed in Moderation queue. I didn’t want this. They should all be posted directly.

2. If I use the Akismet option in Admin bar all the guest posts (genuine posts + spams) are marked as span and they never get saved in the Forum.There are not added in moderation queue in Admin bar as well. 

If I use ‘Place Akismet marked spam posts into moderation’ then all the guest posts (genuine posts + spams) are moved to Moderation queue under ‘spam’ not moderation. But still in this case i have an option to approve them.

Looks like either Akismet is marking everything added to Forum as spam. Anyway, I all I want is all the guest posts and member posts should be directly posted in the Forum (like it was before migration) and any spam is placed in moderation.

How do you generally remove Moderation restriction for guest posts?

#1 are you saying this is happening only when admin bar and akismet is active?  if not, there is a couple of permissions tha control this…  if yes, wonder why akismet would think they are all spam – its not a setting for that to happen…

#2 this kind of conflicts with #1…

I selected “Do not use Akismet” on Admin bar and Changed Permissions as per your codex tutorial and it works as expected. All the posts from guests now gets posted directly.

This however is true only when “Do not use Akismet” on Admin bar is selected.

If I use ‘Akismet’ – i.e. ‘Place Akismet marked spam posts into moderation’ all the posts are marked as spam and added to Moderation or if ‘Do not save Akismet marked spam posts’ all the posts are deletedrejected and they never go any queue.

Bottom line – Using Akismet option in Admin bar would treat all guest posts as spam.

strange… cannot duplicate that…  we used it here (before memberships) just fine… and I use it on two other sites and I dont have that happening…

will take a note and do some research…  but that is quite odd…

I dont mean anything by this, but what is the nature of your forum?  is it a topic that akismet could potentially be thinking that these guest posts were spam?
