New User: Error installing the sp-import plugin

Hello!

I’m a new user.  I just signed up today.  I downloaded simplepress and installed it without issue.  I also downloaded about a dozen plug-ins.  It took a few minutes to figure out the mechanism for installing them but, once I had that, it was easy and they all installed correctly except the sp-import plugin.

Attempting to install that plugin generates the following stream of messaes:

Uploading SP Plugin from uploaded file: sp-import.zip

Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found

SP Plugin install failed

Return to SP plugins page

Notice: Unable to remove the uploaded plugin zip archive: /nas/content/live/pilotsplace/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/sp-import.zip

Any suggestions and/or ideas for solving this problem are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Brian

Hey Brian,

This is most likely because the importer plugin isn’t a forum plugin, instead it is a standalone WordPress plugin. You will need to either unzip it to your WP plugins folder via FTP or use the standard WP ‘Add Plugin’ and upload it as a zip.

Hope that helps!

Thank you!!

That was the crucial piece of missing information! 🙂

It’s already installed and I’m moving forward.  I hope the rest of your weekend is glorious!

Thanks again,

Brian

Good news! It’s been a while since looking at it and I think it might be a good idea to add that it’s a WordPress plugin on the product description page.

Have a good weekend yourself.
