PHP Notice, Undefined index

I have read here on the forums that PHP notices are nothing to worry about.  So I guess this is just FYI.  However, we are trying to track down some other persistent issues in WP (posted in another thread here regarding Simple: Press mysql_ping() warnings and other random WP 404/500 errors), so just covering my bases in case there is something here I need to know about these notices. 

I have been getting lots of these notices since I installed SP in November 2013:PHP Notice:  Undefined index: 36
PHP Notice:  Undefined index: sfkeywords
PHP Notice:  Undefined index: topicname

Current version is 3.8.1.

Correct – these are harmless and just a nuisance; As we find them we correct them although often it is just data that has not yet been defined and once defined they just disappear.

I will address the other post though on a few minutes.

and I believe the ones you reference have already been addressed in next version… cant tell for sure without file and line #, but believe they are handled…

Thanks for your replies.  Just FYI, what I posted was the entire text of the notice.  Should there have been a file/line# referenced?

Yes there should but that might be out fault actually. Any you find like that should also appear in the SP error log with more detail. We have corrected that in the next update.

I am also getting this error message everytime a page of my website is accessed:

[31-Jan-2014 18:30:28 UTC] PHP Notice:  Undefined index: editor

I have tracked it down to be the file uploader plugin for simple press, but do not know how to fix it.  Let me know if you can and thanks!

Now that one is a real puzzle as (a) we have never seen that before and (b) I don’t really see how SP can function without the editor value being set…

Can you open up your personal profile – post options – editor and see what you have set – and – if nothing – select one.

Not sure exactly what you mean.  I opened up my personal profile and set the editor as text editor “plain textarea” .. not sure if that’s what you meant.  So I have installed a couple other plugins and now I am getting many more errors in my error log.  Here is a sample:

those are harmless notices… and they get fixed up as they are reported… unfortunately, this is the php error log and no line #s and files reported…

that is exactly what Andy asked you to do… go to your profile and make sure an editor was selected…

can you go to forum – toolbox – error log and see if the editor notice is listed with more info?
