Plugin-Corrupted File

Hello,

 

I recently purchased the private messaging plugin and when I try and install it it says the following.  

The folder name of this plugin has become corrupted – probably due to multiple downloads. Please remove the -1 at the end of the folder name. The proper folder name should be private-messaging

After installing I cannot edit/delete the plugin.  

I’ve tried redownloading the plugin and reinstalling it and that just duplicated the plugin and made another problem file.  

 

How can I get in and edit the folder name?

this is an issue with wp sticking those numbers out there on uploads when it already exists…

so you need to edit the directory name typically with an ftp client or your server control panel directory manager…

Thank you for the quick response.  

So going off what you said I downloaded filezilla and am trying to access the ftp through it.  I found all of the connection information through my server host and when I connect it says the following

Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Am I missing a plugin or is it something else entirely?  

 

Scratch that, I played around with the encryption settings being sent to and from filezilla and was able to find the files and change their names.

Excellent! Glad we could help. And in the long run having FTP access to your website is always a good thing!
