Post as user plugin

Hi,

I am using the “post as” plugin but am finding it not very good due to it not finding the user easily when typing into the box “Post as:”

it only seems to search/find the display name, the problem is i have thousands of members and say i want to post as Julie smith…. all i see is a long list of Julie’s so i dont know which is the correct one… if i type her full name (first and last) it does not find her, and if i type in her username also that does not find her… it only finds on the display name… as far as i can see?

please correct me and tell me where i am going wrong :(

Correct. It search on the use display name… They must be unique per site… Most users would be quite perturbed if showed the first or last name fields since they may be hiding that information…

yes but its only me who sees it (the admin)… and i thought it would only ever be admins or moderators who would ever use this plugin…

why would you ever let a normal member post a post as another user????

that may true for your case, but not a given…  some folks let anyone do that (odd, yes)…  and display name is the standard way of identifying users in WP…  keep in mind also, that users CAN have the same first and/or last name in their settings… no guarantee is unique…  plus its extra queries to look at multiple fields (obviously not a show stopper)…
