Is that something to be released as a Plugin+theme update in the near future ?

i think there will almost certainly be a plugin in time and it would be great if someone actually took up the challenge to write one.

In the meantime then tjhere is always http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/faq/problem-with-post-edit-buttonow-to/problem-with-post-edit-buttonow-to-add-twitter-facebook-plus-one-or-other-buttons/
