Subscription plugin – Forum subscription option not showing

(I’m using SP 5.4.1 and WP 3.8.1)

I have installed the latest Subscription plugin (1.3.6)

I want to force subscription when someone posts to a topic, and enable forum subscriptions (It is a very low volume board). I have made these settings in Components/Subscriptions, but I cannot see anywhere to subscribe to a forum when the forum is displayed. I have tried three different skins (Stacked, Default, iFrame). Can you let me know how to display the “Subscribe to forum” option? I need people to be able to be auto-subscribed to all new topics in a forum they have selected. I tired logging out then in again, but to no avail.

Also, when using the iFrame skin, the options to Subscribe or Watch a topic are not present when viewing a topic. I really like that skin best, but I cannot use it if those options are not present. They only appear when creating or replying to a post, not when viewing a topic like they do in Stacked or Default. Can this be fixed? I need people to be able to subscribe to or unsubscribe from a topic without posting to it.

what is an iframe skin???

force auto subscribe will only work for new members… it doesnt change for existing members…

there are two ways to subscribe to a forum… 

one… on group view, in the status icon area for each forum listed, there is a subscribe to forum icon…  its a heart with a plus looking thing…

two…  add the template tag for showing a subscribe to forum button…   its not in our themes by default because most folks thought it was confusing to show subscribe and subscribe to forum…  but the template tag exists…  see:  http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/plugins/our-plugins/available-plugins/subscriptions/  namely the sp_SubscriptionsSubscribeForumButton() template function…

Sorry – I meant the iForum skin! It doesn’t show the Subscribe or Watch buttons except when creating or replying to a topic. The other skins show it at the bottom of each topic. Are there plans to include that feature in a future update?

So – to force auto subscribe, I deleted the existing users and then re-added them. (This is a brand new forum and there are only five users so far, so that was easy). Thanks for the tip on the template tag.

ah, you mean iForum theme…  skins were part of 4.x but its themes in 5.x… ;)

no current plans to update the iforum skin on this end currently…  but you can simply take the template tag for the subscribe buttons and display it where you want the buttons…  of course, suggest you have your own theme:  http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/themes/theme-basics/creating-a-theme/
