Tiny MCE plugin issue

I run the latest WP and forum version. Around the time when WP 4.0 came out, I noticed that the text color and text background functions in Tiny MCE did not work anymore. I deactivated all my plugins, still did not work. The same thing is happening with the Tiny MCE forum plugin. The text color is not working. Any idea what could cause that?

Hey Shama,

I know you have said you run the latest WP and SP, but are all plugins up to date? Remember any Tiny MCE plugins you have – even unrelated to SP and possibly even for the admin editor for blogs will affect the editor in SP.

Also – are you getting any JS conflicts when using the editor?

I’ll echo what Ike asks.

WordPress upgraded the tinyMCE editor in version 4.0 and it was quite a radical move. It left quite a few plugins – ones that added buttons or changed the editor behaviour – not working properly because their authors did not update them in a timely manner. I realise you said above you deactivated ALL of your plugins… did you also empty the browser cache which in some circumstances is also really necessary as it can hold on to old scripts.

if you have this problem constantly within WordPress (i.e., writing posts etc) then it would also be worth looking through the WP support forums for any clues as at the end of the day the editor is core WordPress functionality and whatever is causing issues is happening at core level.

All my plugins are updated as soon as a new version is available.

I did not empty the browser cache when I deactivated the plugins. I will try this.

But the point I was making is that many authors did NOT update their plugins and I believe there are still some which have to this day not been brought up to date to work with WP 4…

Ok, I get it now – thanks for the clarification.
