Tried to activate Simple:Press results in fatal error

Howdy,

I received a white screen when trying access the WordPress site, so I renamed the plugins folder.  The site came online without the plugins.  I renamed the plugins folder back to Plugins, then began activating plugins on the admin page.  I tested after each plugin activation; however, when I activated the Simple:Press plugin, the plugin would not activate and an error displayed at the top of the Plugins page saying: “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”.  How can I debug the problem.  The forum worked fine yesterday and I didn’t install any updates.

Running latest versions of WordPress and Simple:Press.

Thanks,

mike

Strange for things to just stop for no reason, was there anything at all that you might have been doing?

There are a couple of things you could try for starters..

Firstly, can you try switching WP themes? If you are running a custom theme, try one of the WP stock themes.

You might have already tried this but from your post I’m not 100% sure so worth mentioning, have you tried activating SP with no other plugins running?

And could you check the PHP error log to see if it sheds any light on what’s stopping things? Just look for errors not notices, and paste here if you find anything.

Howdy,

Thanks for the help.  I deactivated all the plugins, then SP activated with no problems.  Next I reactivated the plugins one at a time and tested the site.  Everything is working.  Must have been sunspots…

Thanks again for the speedy assistance.

Best regards,

mike
