Under the forum admin > User Groups >Map Users to User Group – have you mapped your WordPress roles to Simple:Press User Groups correctly? And have they been mapped since before the users registered?
Support Forum
The UserGroup is mapped to the roles correctly. However, the user list was imported into Simple:Press. They were created in bb:Press.
How do I proceed to accomplish this?
when a user gets mapped to a role, a hook is fired… if they were moved to a usergroup, and the hook was not fired, then we dont know about…
have you tried going to forum – usergroups – map users to usergroups and at the bottom, remapping all users based on their current usergroup?
I have done the following:
Forum>User Groups>User Memberships
I have verified that the Advancedmember is maded to AdvancedGroup
I have scroll down to MapUsers
Select mapping criteria: Add user membership based on WP role to existing memberships.
click on MapUsers
A window pops saying that 214 users mapped. This is the entire population of users, Advanced or not.
=========
Then I have done this:
Forum>User Groups > Manage User Groups
I have scroll down to AdvancedGroup
Show/Hide Users
I get: No Members in this User Group.
OK… So now – select one of those users in your ‘advanced’ grouping. Go to the WordPress Admin > Users and search for that user and bring up their WordPress user details (using the Edit link). What WordPress Role are they set to?
mmm… the user role is contributor, and other role is participant.
I guess I could go changing all the members of the Advanced Membership Level into the “AdvancedMember” role here in the WordPress Admin as they are available from the “change the role to…” pop up menu.
Is there a way to accomplish this for all advanced members in one action?
Well – it is the role change that triggers the change to the user group membership in SP.
So you do need to make sure that (a) your WishList levels are mapped to the correct WordPress role and then (b) that your Simple:Press User Groups are mapped to the right WordPress Role. Once they are all mapped then they should all work in sync with each other.
So I will do the change manually.
Could I expect that any new member that signs up to the Wishlist advanced level will be assigned the proper role and SP grouping, going forward?
I can not speak for WishList. But I assume that if you have it set up correctly to create new users within specific WP roles then – yes – things should work. I think you need to test the WishList end of this first and make sure the WP role you have set in WishList is being honoured.
One last question: What if I have several forums and the user can sign up to different forums corresponding to different levels?
For example, the advanced Users should have also access to the basic and intermediate…?
So add that user group with the right permissions to that forum – Manage Groups and Forums > Add Permissions button against the forum in question.
OK, I have a lot to work on. You all have been very patient with me and for that I am very grateful.
No problem. It can seem daunting and complex but really – once you crack it, then it isn’t.
We will continue to be here should you need advice.
