Du means the “you” form is used in situations when we talk to a person we know well or if we agreed earlier to be on first-name terms.

Are – the informal. Michael – our long-time German translator and the validator on the new site does, I believe, create the informal version.

would be nice to get it. I like SP and i thin if we can make some things a little bit smarter we´ll have a perfekt system

Well I doubt it is finished yet, We only released the language files a week or so ago, These things take time.
You could, of course always help out and volunteer to make some translations – speed it up a bit 🙂

The exported po (sp-dv.po) looks good. Where can i put it to see, if it works on my forum?

depends on where you have the languages location in sp set too… by default its wp-content/sp-resources… you can set it in forum – integration – storage locations…

assuming default, you would locate it in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/simple-press

then you need to change your language in the wp-config.php file…

changing wp-config.php ? There it is de_DE for german. Or is it a extra change?

Ok – a few things:

1. It is not the .po file you require but the .mo – that is the one with the translations in it.
2. I notice (and I just tried) that the file I downloaded for the german language is called ‘sp-dv.mo’. This is incorrect and we will look into what is the problem. It should be ‘sp-de.mo’. So please change it.
3. Thsi wiki article – http://wiki.simple-press.com/installation/spf-in-your-language/ – explains that you may need to change the file name to match your wp-config setting. Please niote this is the V4 wiki and no longer generally applies to V5 but this article is correct.

I see there are not that many translations made and approved yet…

Could you please give an example? I think one of the points a lot of user for simple:press leave is, that there are not so detailed informations. If there is not, a beginner is afraid to make a mistake.

In this case how must it be set well:

This is beta/RC software – we are getting the documentation together as quickly as we can but we are not magicians. I believe it does state on the download page that documentation is not yet available.

You need to check your WP_LANG setting in your wp_config.php file. The mo file for the Sp transaltion will end with ‘-de’. If you WP_LANG setting is ‘de_DE’ then you need to rename the mo file from ‘-de’ to -de_DE’ – they must match.

Correct. The problem is that some people have their WP_LANG set to ‘de’ and some to ‘de_DE’

The proper and internationally recognised code for Germany is just ‘de’ and that is what the translation site uses. i think when they first started WordPress they made this mistake and it has been the same since!
