It might already be there and I might just be overlooking it, but I was wondering if there was a way to add a forum directory dropdown. I love the new topics dropdown, but navigating to different forums is now a two or three step process as compared to unified IIRC
Support Forum
No you’ve got it – it’s not there. It actually doesn’t exist in the Unified spHead.php template in Unified either, only under the desktop section.
I’m not sure how easy it would be to add either. I can definitely look in to it but the main problem is that the function used in the template for topics – sp_QuickLinksTopic – has a mobile equivalent for displaying differently on mobile – sp_QuickLinksTopicMobile. However the function for forums – sp_QuickLinksForum – doesn’t have a sp_QuickLinksForumMobile equivalent.
It might be possible to format the list in a way that is mobile friendly just using the desktop function, but I’m really not sure if it can be done smoothly and in the same style.
another question, I noticed the new and recent drop down does not show for guests on mobile but it does show on desktop, is that normal or am I missing a setting?
My guess is normal, although maybe Andy or Steve could confirm that. Is it possible that the cookie is handled differently on mobile? For example do you get the welcome back style ‘please log in’ with your username?
I definitely can’t see any differences in the function arguments for desktop and mobile..
Not sure.
well, mobile is defined to be smaller, more compact and have less stuff on it than desktop for simple real estate reasons…
assume you mean the recent posts at bottom of group view? and yes, its off by default on mobile…
if so, find this on desktop:
sp_RecentPostList(‘show=5&admins=1’, __sp(‘Unread and recently updated topics’));
and you can add it where you want on mobile if you really want it…
No I mean this
I was thinking the forum directory would look and work good right above it, not sure if possible
oh, well we dont have a mobile version of quicklinks forum as Ike mentioned in post #2… so thought you have shifted and were meaning the recent posts..
you can try putting the desktop one there and seeing how it works (may not look good)… just grab it from the desktop template…
about the best I can offer for now is to open a ticket for future consideration on adding mobile forum quick links…
understood, any way to make the recent post new/updated topics show for guests on reboot?
talking about the similar quicklinks for topic? there is no logic for guests or users that I am aware of… are you saying they dont show? how about here if you come as guest as we are running stock there (will look later tonight myself on phone)…
did you try it here as requested? wondering if its an issue with the mobile template function and not the theme… guessing so, but looking for confirmation.. no worries if you cant – I will later tonight and open a ticket if the case…
