Support Forum
I've created my fists topics and posts with Simple:Press (ver. 6.1.0), and there's a grey rectangle showing where the text should be. What do I do to get the text displaying?
First image is what I see when viewing Topic.
Second image is what shows when I click "Edit" -- showing me that the text is there, but it's not displaying.
Any help would be appreciated!
Then its likely you're looking at some sort of conflict. A few things to try:
1. Press CTRL-F5 key combination while viewing the thread - this will do a hard refresh of your browser cache.
2. Turn off COMBINED CACHING option under FORUM->OPTIONS->GLOBAL SETTINGS.
3. Open up your browser console and see if there are any javascript errors being shown in there.
4. Switch your WordPress theme to one of the core 2017/18/19 theme, clear your caches (if you or your host have any turned on) and see if the text shows up.
5. Go to FORUM->TOOLBOX->ERROR LOG and clear the log. Then try viewing the forum again and see if any new errors show up in that log.
6. Check your WordPress debug.log file to see if there are any errors being thrown in there. (You might need to turn on your WordPress debug flags first).
You can do all of these things individually - they're not dependent on each other. I just listed them in the order of easiest to hardest.
Thanks.
PS: You might want to verify that your PHP version is 5.6.30 or later. Also, what browser are you testing in? I assume its something mainstream like Chrome on Windows?
Ah, shoot. Then at this point its probably another plugin that is conflicting. The only way to figure out which one is to backup your site and then turn off all the other plugins. Does that resolve the issue? If so, then turn on plugins one by one, checking to see if the issue reappear after each one.
The process is a PITA but its the only way to narrow down which one might be conflicting.
Thanks.
PS: Maybe something else to check before going down this road is to check on a Windows machine. You said you were using Safari so I assume you're on a Mac? It really shoudn't make a difference but its another simple thing to check before doing the procedure above.
Decided that I'd comb through all the SP options on the backend and figure this out, and found a solution:
Under Integration > Page and Permalink > Integration Options choose "Force The Strict Use Of The WP API"
Did that and now everything's good.
Possibly something that could be a fix for anyone else who has the issue -- but with every WP site setup, with plugins and these and such, being so unique, guess you never know.
Thanks for the help!
