New user – cannot add files to my post

When I searched earlier this morning between various forums to buy, the one thing that stood out was Simple Press offered an easy way to share files. I need this feature as we get updates and patches to our clients and this is the method we will use.

When I go to create a post – the most BORING create a topic panel comes up and I have no ability to upload a file (.zip)

Am I missing something really basic?

TIA Mike

BTW – at the bottom of this post I see this site has Attachments – Tags – Smileys – and Options. I only have Smileys and Options on mine

Hi:

Yes, I think you might have just installed the free version of the simple:press forum without installing any of the premium add-ons.

To get the premium add-ons, just go to this link: https://simple-press.com/store/use-all-access-pass/.  You’ll see a long list of them and you can click the DOWNLOAD NOW button to get any of them (as long as you’re logged in) since you’re licensed for all of them with your Silver bundle.

For uploading files, scroll to the FILE UPLOADER one and download that file.

Then, go to your FORUM->PLUGINS->PLUGIN UPLOADER screen and upload the file then activate it.

From there, you can configure permissions for users to upload files do that under the FORUM->PERMISSIONS screen.

For additional upload configuration options you can go to FORUM->COMPONENTS->FILE UPLOADS.

I hope this helps.

PS: A lot of functions you might need are in the plugins – you can explore the items on this screen to see what might useful: https://simple-press.com/store/add-ons/
