Failed migration of Silver Bundle and Extra theme combo

I have one site that successfully combines the Elegant Themes "Extra" theme and the Simple-Press Silver Bundle with all plugins loaded and active.

I'm attempting to migrate that entire package to another site on the same virtual private server at Hostgator using the Duplicator free version.

What would be the correct procedure to do that? I'm getting database write errors.

Hi:

hmmmm.....sounds like this is a question for the support folks of the migration tool you're using - in this case Duplicator.  Or, with the database write errors it might also be one for HostGator depending on the type of write error you're getting...

I appreciate your quick answer.

I've tried two different methods, starting with and without Simple-Press installed.

Without the forum, just the Extra theme, I get good results with the exception that the Ads Module won't display the images for ads, and the media gallery also won't display the images that were in the ads on the original website. I shouldn't build on top of that without corrections.

Migrating the complete package with Extra theme with Silver Bundles installed and everything enabled, I get database errors and lots of Health Check errors. Extra and Simple-Press seem to be working together fine on the original site.

I would be willing to migrate only the WP with Extra, and manually add Simple-Press and add-ons, but I get issues either way.

I'm uncertain where to begin to track this down. Will licenses migrate without errors?

What are the tools to use to track down these issues? Error logs, health check plugins?

Hi:

If the domain is a new domain you'll need to reactivate your license but that should have no effect on the database and files being migrated.  A lot of what happens in a migration like you're doing depends on what the migration plugin does.  For example, each migration plugin might handle search and replaces for old->new domains differently and will handle media links differently.

If you're moving to the same domain you might just want to manually move the database and files instead of relying on a plugin. But if you're moving to a different domain then you do need a plugin's help.  We've used the premium version of UPDRAFT PLUS (premium version, not the free version) many times for this.  We have not used duplicator so can't speak to how it does things.

We don't have a health-check plugin.  Depending on the version of WordPress you're using there is a Health-Check item in there.  But, whatever that is reporting after the migration needs to be taken up with the Duplicator folks or the Hosting folks because obviously they're missing something when moving the tables and files.

For error logs I suspect you're talking about the WordPress error logs?  But, again, if you're getting errors after using the plugin they're the best ones to ask questions to since that is their specialty.  You haven't mentioned what those errors are saying so you can try posting them to see if we can spot something in there that might help.

Thanks
