Ability to sort Member List and PM inbox

Hi team

I have had a look around the features, codex and forum, though don't see these features.

I think it would be great to have the ability to sort (and possibly even filter) on demand:

  1. The list of members by these individual criteria: the date they first registered; last visited forum; last posted to forum. This would help me deterime which members I could send 'touch base' PMs or emails to.
  2. My PM inbox by these individual criteria: latest mail received; forum member. This would make it easier for me to see when different members reply to my PMs and how long ago, and which are active conversations I am having.
  3. Also, my PMs are used to consult with and give personal/sensitive advice to members. Is there a way to 'archive/store' old PM threads (to possibly review later), rather than delete them (possibly store by member name and/or date range)? Deleting them from my inbox seems to also delete it from the member's inbox as well and they may wish to keep it for reference. They may also perceive I no longer care about the previous conversation, when I am really just uncluttering my inbox.

Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to your comments.

Kind regards, David.

1 - could probably be done with filter on the query now...  but I have noted it...

2 - tricky, but have added a ticket for consideration...

3 - we have a ticket for adding paging to private messaging... and have talked about adding support for folders, but quite a big undertaking...

As to pm deletion, if you delete a pm, it does not delete (or at least should not and has not been) been deleting it from the sender or recipients...  could you please try verifying this?

Thanks for the quick response.

  1. When you say "with the filter on query now", do you mean as a default list view by scripting; or that it can be done 'on demand' from within the forum by using existing settings? If by tweaking existing settings can you point me in the right direction?
  2. OK
  3. I couldn't duplicate the deletion from members inbox when deleted from mine, though fairly sure it happened once before when I was testing some PMs. Happy the mistake was my endembarassed
  4. Something I meant to add before: Is it possible to flag my outgoing messages as 'read' or 'opened' when the recipient/s have opened/viewed it within their inbox page? Sometimes if I haven't got a response within 3-5 days I will send them another PM assuming they may have missed the original PM notification email, and haven't visited the forum page for a while.

thanks for checking on the deletion...

we already have a feature request ticket open for the read receipts on pms...

as to the query, havent researched, just meant to imply you could order the results in many ways by filtering the query before its executed... but it would be fixed display...  think you really want to be able to sort on the fly...

Thanks.

Yes, on the fly sorting is what I was referring to. Thanks for adding these items to your development list.

Cheers, David
