Hello.

I dont know if this is a "bug" or caused by an other plugin from me. But if create a second admin ( I named it "admin" in simplepress and created a new usergroup in WP named "co-admin") for my forum, who is NOT WP admin, he cannot see the admin menu in backend. He/she has not the permission to access the forum-backend pages. Not even userlevel 7 to 9 have the permission (i dont know if the userlevel is the matter?).

Would like to wish for the next version of simplepress forum that i can choose a WP userlevel to access the backend menu of forum.

Like i can actually choose the minimum forum-userlevel to access the whole backend/dashboard.

Again, it could be an issue from my WP/plugins - in that case a "Sorry"!

Greetings,

jan

This should not be the case but first let me point out that 'forum' admins (a) are not related in any way to WP 'Admins' and (b) do not belong to any user group.

A 'forum' admin is defined in the forum > Manage Admins panel. They can have any 'level' or WP 'role'. Yu grant them access to the various forum menus when you create them.

if you have done this and the new admin can not access the admin panels you have allowed access to then something else is stopping them from getting to the back end.

Thos may be another plugin but is most likely your 'Block Admin Access' settings. Look in Admin > Forum > Options > Global panel. Here you can block users from getting to the entire WP admin side. Perhaos your new admin user is blocked because of this setting?

Hello and sorry for the delay of my answer!

Yes, i know what you mean. So it must be a problem with one of my plugins, when i :

1. create a new forum admin with nearly full (forum-admin) permissions

2. give him/problem-with-post-edit-buttoner wordpress userlevel 10 (but call this role "Co-Admin")

3. in these settings: > Forum > Options > Global panel i gave permission to access wp-admin to minimum userlevel 3 (this level is called "Author" i think)

...but such a user still does not can see the menu-point "forum" in wp-dashboard-menu? I dont mean the "admin strip" in forum front end, all menu points are showing there.

I used "role manager" and "members" to create new roles. But deactivated/deleted them afters my doings.

I little confused,

Oh, wanna say something not depending...

The buttons (icons) forumtop and forumbottom are not working in IE8. I did change it to a href="#wrapper" and a href="#sfversion"  to make it work for me...

Just because i have the chance to help you!

I'm really not sure what this can be. We can not replicate this.
Let's just clarify please. if you go to Admin > Forum > Admins > Manage Admins - then your 'co-admin' s listed there with all the checkboxes ticked. Yes?

Hello.

Yes, all checkboxes are checked for my forum-admins.

If you like, you can give me an emailaddress, so i can open a testaccount for you. That would be very forthcoming.

I can make some screenshots if needed, too.

greets,

jan

Might be worth it.
if you can make me a test account with full SPF admin privileges?
best way is to send me a PM with the details (inckuding site address and a reminder to this thread)
Thanks

I am guessing that the users who can not access the admin menus are probably Heinz and Roboter. Would that be correct?

If so then this is probably going to be down to the custom Roles. I know we have support for custom roles in the next update (4.2) but it looks like it might be not getting them right in prior versions. I suspect that it is the 'block admin' (Zugriff auf die WP-Admin Seiten) settings not really recognsing them correctly.

Does this make sense?

Yes thats right, these two users have custom roles. But i testet all available roles in wp, and none except the highest one, the admin, can see the menupoint (again, not the admin icons in frontend).

What is the default setting for 'block admin' (Zugriff auf die WP-Admin Seiten)?

I have full control over how to show the dashboard and admin to my users. Only one plugin makes me confused too. its "count per day" - only admin and author can see the statistics - all roles between if custom or wordpress`own- cannot access it. I found nothing in the phps, so it MUST be in database.

greets,

jan

try turning OFF the 'Block Admin' feature (Forum > Options > Global) just to see if that enables the menu for them...
