Alternate Registration Method

Is there a option of selecting an alternate registration method for users
Currently in Simple Press...You see users registration has
USERNAME
EMAIL ID
====================
after that password is sent to email id.
Most users find it hard to digest the complicated passwords (as far as I noticed on my forum...so dey forget to login and keep it for the future to check)
Is there a way the registration wud be like >>
USERNAME
PASSWORD
-----------------------
If not choice of registration fields will be a useful option for d future

Registration, passwords, login - these are all WordPress. If you want to change that then there are plenty of plugins that can help. 'Register Plus' is one that I know allows the user to choose their own password.
