Well - as this is still very much in 'beta/test' mode I am grateful for the feedback. What prefix did you use for the 'users'? 'bb_' or 'wp_'?

Also no one else has had any problems getting the source data from a separate database as long as the connection details are correct. Not sure how I can work that one.

I had put all the bb_ tables in the main WP database, along with all the WP files.  During the import, I told it to use the wp_ as the prefix for the users table. I wasn't sure if it was asking for where they were coming from or where I wanted the users to go.  Did I get it backwards?

OK, I went back and tried it again after uninstalling and reinstalling Simple:Press. It worked when I used bb_ as the prefix for the users.  Very excellent, sirs, thanks for your hard work and help!

Uhh sorry for the very late reply ^_^ i've also tested, i can confirm that in my version the posts were locked (ive read thats now fixed) and on first run the posts were all appointed to guests (i didnt clicked to add members) and on the second run it deleted my current members (im doing this on localhost to test it out, not live hehehe), it would be ideal for me, if it would compare the members e-mail addresses, if its already on the wp database, dont add member and link the posts to the existing member, if its not on the database, add new member ^^ it doesnt need to be perfect, but deleting current members it shouldnt be able to do, even if it doesn't assign the old posts to the current members ^_^

cause like i said my old forum has double the members than my wp site, but there are loads of duplicates members, still as a sidenote, if the new importer, imports the posts correctly (even if all are assigned to guests), it might be good enough for me, the old content is there, so not lost (legacy) and users can post new things ^-^ ohh and thanks for the awesome job, looking forward to using simple press on my wp site

not sure what you are saying about deletion...  the importer doesnt have any facility for deleting users.

by deleting i mean replaces the members i already had on wordpress by members that were on the forum, in a way it deletes the current wp members and adds new members from the bbpress database, so yeah the current members are gone :\ maybe it doesnt delete, but replacing in this case deletes a lot of members.

I think you are using an old version there. This has been updated many times since then although is still beta.

Let me know if you want me to send you an updated copy.

As I have already said we do not test on email address. We test on the login name. If a user in the target DB exists with the same login name as in the source DB we do not create a new record but reuse that one. We do not now and have at no time deleted user records.

I will email you the latest build.
