Just wanted to go on record with an official feature request here before I forgot. Obviously not urgent...
When the Admin has selected to Use WP Avatars first, the Edit Avatar tab can be very misleading to users. It says "You may update your avatar from the choices below", but there are no choices. If SPF is using WP Avatars, the user should be provided with a link to their WP profile for updating their avatar when the visit the Edit Avatar tab in their SPF profile.
See screenshot for suggestion or provide feedback with a comment below. I'm happy to help test this.

PS: Attempted using the Upload Attachments button with 55k jpg and got the following error...
avatartab.jpg: Error 106 - Upload file size exceeds maximum allowed size

55k = 56320 bytes and we have a constraint of 51201 bytes. But it used to show up and say this so I need to investigate where that has gone!
Steve is the 'Profile King' so I will let him initially comment on the request.
