Support Forum
On our forum, we are hosting a forum for script testers. Each script under test is launched with it's own topic.
Now they have asked me, to put a post on top of the topic where everyone within the user group has access to and can put his individual test schedule in; this way, all of them know exactly, who is testing what and when.
I have no idea on how to do it: either everyone can access all posts or only his own posts for editing.
Anyone having an idea how to do it?
Maybe, there is a hook or filter somewhere?

have you tried pinning a post? if you pin a post, it will always be the first post in the topic...

Pinning it wouldn't really help since he wants all users to be able to edit it even though they are not an admin, mod or OP.
If you could open up only one post so that anyone could edit it you run into the chance that someone may on purpose or accidentally delete content or change the post so that everything in it is gone or unusable.
This would probably something that an Admin or Mod should handle.
Yes, my users and I are used to pinning. It's like Brandon said: the idea was to have an editable post for all users of this group. It might not be an major issue to loose some content - it is just a user name and a date. It could be re-generated easily. Any group member can launch a script for testing and any member can sign up.
Editable post is only one idea - all we need is a possibility where group members can sign up and get displayed to the other members somewhere in the thread that they have signed up for this.
Is there a hook or filter or template tag that I can use to check for a specific thread? With that I possibly can bring up a customized sign-up button and a display within the thread using spFunctions.php

I am going to have to reread this when more awake... I must not be following the question and understanding what you want to do...
but you have access to all the topic and/or post info in your template file (in this case spTopicView.php?)... so you can add any php code you want to check for specific topics and/or posts... just not sure what you want to do then...

no worries... give it a try... ask questions if needed... sorry, but still not 100% sure what you want to do...
