Support Forum
I have noticed this feature has been asked for for years now, I am hoping it has been integrated but I have been unable to find anything.
Along the lines of most recent posts, is there a way to send this out daily or weekly to all members, even if they are not subscribed to a thread. If there is a weekly newsletter feature that you can include some text along with the most recent posts, that would be great as well.
Anything like this or can you point me in the right direction to get it made?
Thank you!
Bryan
When I go to Forum-components-subscriptions
I see where you can
1. auto opt people in to subscribe to thread
2. Allow members to subscribe to forums in addition to topics (which I was not able to figure how to subscribe to the entire FORUM when logged in. Where is the subscribe link under the main forums?)
3. Enable subscription digests
These all appear to only work when someone is subscribed to a thread or forum. How can I set everyone to subscribe and be notified weekly or daily so they get the updates?
Thanks!
This is a private membership forum in which people would like to receive this information either through daily or weekly notification... I just don't want to do it manually, wish copying 'most recent posts' and then emailing it to all the members...
Can you think of a work-around as you can with other forum software? Like when a new member comes in, they automatically are subscribed to the main forums and they will receive the daily digest?
Bryan
Well I suppose the first thing to say is that from the legal standpoint it doesn't matter if it is a private forum or not. The way around that, of course, is to force acceptance of forum behaviour when people register.
Next - this is something we have under review and discussion as we do realise that some users want this. So things might change but only if we can achieve that in the correct fashion.
There is also the question of hosting. Many hosts will put the brake on if too may emails are being sent from a site so we would probably have to build in some kind of 'flood' control which is not quite as simple as it sounds.
There is no simple workaround as the data structures required are a little complex.
Can you not take the simple approach of actually asking your users to subscribe to the forums they want to subscribe to?

Yes, that is probably the best option at this point. Great points on the emails being sent out. Even with a small member base, that might become excessive.
So, how would I go about allowing them to subscribe to the forums the select? Is there a shortcut link I can send to them?
I do not see where they can click a button under the main forum dashboard to subscribe to the entire forum or forums.
Ok, I found that, but when I click on the 'Subscription Options' tab, I get the following error:
Profile form could not be found: [Forum Subscriptions]
You might try the forum - toolbox - housekeeping admin form and reset the profile tabs and menus and see if that helps
I went to the forum admin tab but couldn't find toolbox or housekeeping... Can you point me in the right direction? Will this give me the opportunity to select daily or weekly updates? Or will this automatically be done since I have that set up on the admin side?
Bryan
You the admin select the digest type you want to allow on the subscriptions admin panel.
So - in the forum admin no Toolbox on the left hand menu? Unusual. If you go to the forum admin > Admins> Manage Admins - is the Manage Toolbox capability turned on for you?
