Does anyone out there have any sort of expected time when this integration might be done?
I really like simple press and would feel awful to use bbpress as a message board because bbpress sucks. However, I really would like the features BuddyPress has. I am thinking maybe I will just add buddy press later on and to start just utilize the SimplePress forum only, awaiting integration once it has been completed. One again, any idea on the time frame of this? Thanks.

the two work together now... its just the integration isnt as deep as we would like... several users have posted code using our program hooks to extend it further...
still unsure if it will make it into 5.0 after the first of the year - I suspect it wont just because of the amount of changes in 5.0 already... but its number on on the list after 5.0 if it doesnt make it...

How does it work together now? How would I go about getting buddpress to use simplepress instead of bbpress?

Will user accounts created in buddypress work with simple press and vice versa so that there is on unified account? Thanks.

there are a fair number of users using buddypress and simple:press together... not all the integrated functions (ie activity) work, though users have posted plugin hook code to get it working...
yes, of course, wp/buddypress/simple:press all use the same account...
