AYE!

I made this thread before asking about tapatalk integration and have searched the forums about it, there seems to be some confusion as far as what tapatalk does and what it is. Tapatalk is a app that allows a user to simply peruse a forum, upload pics, etc.

I know you guys are big on the unified theme, the response from a majority of my members are they want tapatalk back, this vid is a little old, but it shows you the functions

http://youtu.be/7ELOO08uC0U

The only wordpress forum that is supported with tapatalk for wordpress is bbpress. Which totally blows imo, I have gone from mingle to bbpress to simplepress, and simplepress knocks it out of the park compared to the other two.

(RIP MINGLE)

There was a thread on here linking to a thread on tapatalk and the developers of tapatalk said they were not interested

that was a old thread

A newer thread was posted and the developers comment last January was

This is in our TODO list, hopefully on Q2 of this year.

I think you guys are really dropping the ball on this, people want simplicity on mobile for forums and tapatalk provides that.

Think Reddit

It is so successful because it is very simple

Also as a simplepress owner, my site would be in their search function so it would open me up to a large amount of people that I would not be otherwise

Case in point, I only had bbpress for less than 30 days, tapatalk was less than that, I still get hits to my log about 25 times a day searching for mobiquo which is the file needed to activate tapatalk, these people must have saved my site through tapatalk because we have long been removed from their network

BBpress is the only current wordpress forum that is supported, if all things were equal, I would probably side with bbpress with this.

It would be a great selling point for you guys.

I think you guys should seriously look at tapatalk, anyone else agree say aye!

I would be willing to paypal 200 dollars to get this ball rolling, I am posting this on the public forum so I can link it back to the developers of tapatalk and make them the same offer and they can see this thread,  peace

well, I still dont really know much about - hadnt heard about it until a couple topics here...  and you kind of nailed it on head I think...  its an app... so the initial work has to begin with them...  we have expressed a willingness to work with them on multiple occasions...  others have started topics like yours but it has doesnt appear to have gone anywhere...

I can reiterate it again...  We would be happy to work with them and see what it would take to make the two work together...  but they dont seem to have an open api (at least I dont see it on the site), so we cannot do much on our own....  pass it along in your topic too...

yeah, it's hard to find some of the info, but it seem they are open with their api

Tapatalk API allows third-party developers to develop forum systems plugin or mobile app that talks the Tapatalk language. We believe openness and by opening up the API document we hope to foster innovations on inter-forum access beyond web browser. Tapatalk API has been implemented on over 8 different forum systems and has proven to work with ten of thousands of discussion forums worldwide.

after looking at the page I posted, is this something that could be developed as a custom plugin for me if needed?

We will need to dig in deeper and investigate...  I cant get anything other than that page you linked to come up... If I click on any of the 'section' topics, I get a blank page...

and per the announcement message currently at the top of the support forum (for logged in users), the next few weeks will be tough to do much work since we will have limited availability for dev work...

No worries, just wanted to throw that out there, like I said before, I want to see you guys thrive and be successful, I think tapatalk integration would open you up to a lot more people

I would also like to recommend tapatalk integration. I use it for the forums I regularly peruse and find it to be outstanding. I think it would be very valuable to your users.

Its on our list, but from scratch just using their api, it looks like a huge effort...  now, if they were to make some of it native like they said, I believe it would be a whole lot simpler...

kvr did offer $200 for an integration... and we do intend to dig into a bit further when things settle down, which was after 5.5 was released (thats now)...   have spent the last few days dealing with some network issues but resolved that last night... so would expect we might be able to burn a few more braincells on this very shortly...
