I am wanting a thumbnail to pop up when you posts links on Facebook.  I want to be able to scroll through a set of the image that are on the post or reply. Is this possible? Can I set an uploaded image to "featured image" on a post so it show on facebook?

Unless you have setup specific images or meta tags for facebook typically it will grab a few images and allow you to select the one you want to show. Unfortunately you can't specify which few it grabs. There is a way to use a default image for all shared links. A good place to start with how all that works is here. http://www.hyperarts.com/blog/.....p-dialogs/ It's a little old but does cover multiple ways to add specific fb info.

I am using the "Facebook Open Protocol" plugin since I am running an app through the site. It does use a specified image if there are not any images detected. If I place an image on the forum landing page via wordpress I can then see the images being used on facebook. For some reason it is ignoring the images that are uploaded on the forum so I then see only my default app image. I then deactivated the plugin to to further troubleshoot which did not work. Here is the topic that I am trying to post on facebook. It has two images.

There are other social open graph plugins that are activated but they usually don't interfere with my other plugins.

Yes I use SEO Yoast. I found this doc if it might help http://yoast.com/wordpress-seo-api-docs/. I also have genesis framework which supports a plugin called Simple Hooks for the framework.

Here is the hook reference http://my.studiopress.com/docs.....reference/.

I believe that SEO Yoast is overriding the default social media API that comes with the forum. If you try to post the link below onto facebook I do not get any description or thumbnail preview images of that page on facebook. It instead reverts to the forum landing page and uses that description instead of the topic. It also uses only my default image url instead of the actual images in the topic link below. If I can get this to work then I can greatly boost me SEO rankings.

Funny Dog Pictures is the topic at the end of the URL

wonder if its keying on the incorrect canonical url from yoast...

try the change here:  https://simple-press.com/suppo.....2/#p124538

and see if that helps... with yoast, until our next version, you will want that anyways...

but not convinced its yoast in this case...  as the FB plugin is calculating the url incorrectly too...

<meta property="og:url" content="http://doggroominginhouston.com/dog-grooming-houston-forum"/>

but try fixing the yoast canonical url and see if the FB corrects itself too...
