What a great plugin - Props!
Here is my wishlist to make it more user-friendly for non-computer people:
1) Don't expose user to normal (albeit restricted) WP back-end.
2) Do provide a profile facility (a widget would be nice in addition to a profile page)
3) Provide option for users to select which group/forum they are registering for with drop-down.
4) Provide option for users to enter profile info at registration including setting password.
4a) or when user registers for specific group/forum, upon first-time log in, require they change their password and drop them into the forum they signed-up for.
That's it for now.
Keep up the good work!!

you can put smileys in PMs... oh, wait, maybe you want a clickable smiley bar? currently, you do have to type in the shorthand 😉
I can open a ticket for future consideration.

Re: item #1 I'd suggest using plugin "WP Hide Dashboard" to hide everything except the profile settings for specifically "Subscribers" - works fine in WP2.7. Now, since you have "normal" people crawling into your backend, I'd just offer the suggestion here of also taking out that annoying WP branding and putting your own logo in, through Custom Admin Branding (also WP2.7 compatible). I have both up and running on a WP2.7 install, no probs.
That's the great thing about SimplePress: you can use WP plugins to add more stuff.
we hope to offer a "hide dashboard" feature with 4.1... but thanks for the info!
