Are there any other icons available for the forum main pages? like the little notebook icons etc, next to the forum categories?

Currently no. I am actually looking at creating a second set at the moment but that will be way off before it is ready.
We really were hoping to encourage some users to offer us alternate sets and I know several have made them but so far no luck!

It is because you have such limited width there. This can be corrected with a small change to the spTopicView theme template. The two columns are defined and in the arguments for the columns there are widths defined - you need to male column 2 a little smaller until things look OK.
Burt before you do that have you considered using the 'stacked' SP theme? which places the user information currently on the side along the top instead thus giving you more post width to work with...

A lot of WordPress themes come with optional layouts or templates for pages display. Have you checked yours and see if it has different options? Good ones allow you to select a layout right on the same admin page that you use to create/edit a WP page.
