I think it would be nifty, if instead of a straight /ul /li list for the latest threads and topics, it had the option to use a forums specified image.

Another idea I was thinking about was the possibility of a popular topic widget. With the latest topics that have over x posts.

the latest topics template tag already exists and is quite similar.
