I understand that I can limit the width of the avatars but not the size. But there is no limit to the height of an avatar. It not important but still, I'd like to suggest it.

I tested it before. As long as it meets the width requirement and the max filesize, I can upload it (as an administrator and as a subscriber/member with upload capability).
