Just a suggestion guys..
When clicking on an email link for private message notification, users are told they don't have permission to use private messaging. That could be confusing.
I think it would be much better if email notification links would 1st bring up the login box and then after a user is authenticated they are then redirected to their inbox.
The buzz I'm getting from my users is that this is a strange board. I tell them it's the NEW way of using forums in a secure environment. And the developers are hard at work making necessary changes. Nobody has said they don't like it. So that's a good thing.

I seem to think something here has been proved but cannot remember the specifics... would have to research... but the login link is right above where you are...
so what you would rather have is that if you dont have permission to access a page is a redirect to a login page rather than displaying an error message??

It seems confusing to me, and probably others that have not used this forum before.
Maybe instead of telling members they don't have permission to use private messaging, maybe change the wording to something like "please sign in to use private messaging" then after signing in they would see the red lettered inbox button.
That's probably the simplest modification to the code.

after testing and discussion, there won't be a redirect... but in the case of the PM inbox, if you go to that page (ie from the email, which is really the only way to get there short of hand typing it), the page will load with an improved message and the login form open... should be quite obvious to users they need to log in...
