I found I kept getting lost while exploring the Admin menu for the first couple of times as there is no indication what menu item you where on and that the admin page title is regularly different from the menu item. eg:

Section/Menu Item -=- Page Title

Forums/Add Global Permission -=- Manage Forums - Add a User Group Permission Set to All Forums

Froums/Global Private RSS Settings -=- Manage Forums - Globally Enable/Disable RSS Feeds

Options/Global Settings -=- Manage Options - Settings

Components/Editor Options -=- Manage Components - Post Editors

Etc...

regardless of that the forum menu on the left should highlight which panel you have open. Both the 'grouping' as the accordion will only have the one section open at a time. And the actual panel by a highlight.

Yes, the open accordion shows which section I'm in but there is no highlighting to show which page I'm in, screen-shot attached. That combined with the irregular naming convention makes it easy to lose track of where you are IMHO.[Image Can Not Be Found]

have you changed any admin CSS? Or have any plugin that might have? The current pane should be highlighted with the CSS anchor active tag.

Thanks for the replies.

I just went through my admin page source and disabled all the plug-ins that were making changes to it, but still I do not see any highlighting on the menu items. Here's what my admin <head> looks like now (real domain name replaced):
