It would be great if you could include a massmail function in SPF 5.0 that you can send mass mails based on user groups.

I can't speak for Steve or Andy, but mailing lists isn't really within the remit of SP. There are many other plugins that provide mailing list functionality already.
There'd probably be nothing to stop someone writing a plugin in the future for SP 5.0 that provided that facility, but I can't see it ever becoming core functionality. Correct me if I'm wrong Steve/Andy!

Please understand that the existing mass mail plugins out there does not consider SPF groups when sending mails.
An alternative is to start using phpbb instead, wich now is possible to integrate with WordPress. But I still want to use SPF because of it is a great Plugin and you guys are great with the development.
Please re-consider.

it is something we have considered and will consider again... something more likely to get implemented in the near term would be the ability to send a PM to all members of a user group... if you have the send email on PM option enabled, this would accomplish the same thing.
should also mention that when 5.0 ships, it will include a full plugin api and this feature is something that would be a pretty simple plugin for sp to write...
