MonsterID would be a nice addition to the forum.
Basically it works just like Gravatar, except when a person doesn't have a gravatar account, it generates a random funny-looking monster avatar for each person.

monster id is already available… just set up your wp avatars to use monster id then tell the forum (in forum – options – global tab, avatar section) to use the wp settings…
voila monster id avatars…

Ok.. I've just tested it with these parameters:
WordPress--->Settings--->Discussion: Use MonsterID
Forum: Use WP-Settings
Enable avatar uploading: Checked
What happens is normal avatar uploading doesn't work as it should.
When I upload an avatar, it says: Uploaded properly, but I still have the same MonsterID default avatar instead of the avatar that I uploaded through my forum profile. 
you said you wanted to use monster id?? do you want uploaded avatars or monsters? currently, you have to choose between the wp settings or the forum settings but cant have both... we have an open ticket to expand those options some more...

it will probably be 4.1 when more options (such as mixing or letting users select) makes an appearance but not for certain yet...
