Support Forum
I've perused a few topics that go into the particulars of moving the forum topic link shown (normally) atop the post content to a different place. Let's say I'd rather set my head on fire and put it out with a sledgehammer than dealing with the core code hacking involved. [Image Can Not Be Found]
So… since I've seen a few plugins that offer the choice of producing their output either above or underneath the post (and I'm really only talking about picking a position relative to the post itself – not in sidebars, headers, footers or other nightmarish exotica) would it be possible to offer in a future release an option to switch the position to right underneath the post?
Here's the reason: in excerpts and feeds, the (static) text of that link shows up too – which I'd prefer to avoid, as feeds with excerpts starting with invariable and repetitive text may put people off.
(Edited to add another argument: consistency - say, in the post you type "see the link above for additions" while in the corresponding forum topic it actually shows underneath - so by choosing a display for both as underneath, such references would remain coherent and correct, no matter which of the two you read.)
Just a suggestion… Which you probably already had in mind for quite some time. [Image Can Not Be Found]
That is, if not already implemented in the 4.1 betas (I'm still running 4.0.x) [Image Can Not Be Found]
Forum > Manage Options > Links tab allows you to choose whether to place the link at the top or bottom of the post content. The default is bottom. Is that what you want?
One of the problems we have is that there is really just the one way to add content to a post and that is by manipulating the post content before it is displayed. This always means that the link becomes a part of the content and this can not be avoided.
The only other way would be to offer a template tag that the user can add to their post templates to display the link outside of the content itself. This alternative is under consideration for 4.2 (in whch we plan to overhaul blog post linking) but it does require the user to be technically savvy and to be honest, most probably are not.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... [Image Can Not Be Found]
This is a bad case of reading things too literally.. It says "Display Link Above Post Content" so I wrongly assumed that if unselected it wouldn't show the link to the forum at all... Hokay.
Next time, I'll just click the @#$%& link see what it does, and just put it to the smoke test! (So what's this cute "Delete Forum" button here do? j/k)
Sorry 'bout that... And thanks for proving once more that you guys are two steps ahead.
Awesome.
